Grade 2 students of Delhi World Public School, Dadri, went on a field trip to a supermarket as part of their extended learning about the food we eat. A supermarket is a great place to introduce and educate kids about food and other products. On the visit to the supermarket, students were asked to name the different kinds of foods they might find at the grocery store. They were taken through several sections, including the organic vegetables and fruits section, the grain section, the toiletry rows, the meat and dairy section, the frozen food section, the bakery, and the nonperishable food section. The teacher explained to the students the purchasing, billing, and payment processes. Overall, it was a joyful learning experience for each student. We believe these experiences will guide our students in choosing a healthy diet.
